    Don’t forget Occam’s Razor, which has been misquoted to support a position directly opposite its original intent.

    (The creator of the aphorism, William of Ogham, formulated it as a statement to show the validity of the philosophy that contemporary thinkers call Intelligent Design…)

    Well, I never knew that. It’s a shame he misapplied it himself, since positing God is hardly the most parsimonious answer to anything.

    Occam’s Razor only moves the debate from “did a God create the universe” to “could the universe have been created without a God”. It doesn’t solve anything; it just turns the question around and starts chewing on the other end.
