This is summer for my family–Tuesday at the pool for an Ohio-Michigan Summer Swim League meet. That’s my daughter on the right getting out-touched by a stroke. I like the picture because it’s dynamic, showing not just a close finish between swimmers, but other elements of what make up a swim meet. A hot as blazes day, too, so the timers and judges visible in this picture were suffering. Fortunately I was able to do my judging from a chair in the shade of the life guard stand. That kept me from getting too cranky, so I only disqualified two swimmers (repeat after me: no dolphin kicks in the breast stroke!).
